APOLOGIES FOR THE HUGE BLOG.

THE WEEK STARTING 09/08/2014 - ALL MY UPDATES. IT'S BEEN A BUSY MONTH SO FAR BUT HEAPS OF FUN.

- Set up a new page for the TV shows I've been watching and loved, as well as SOME OF THE current shows I'm watching. Feel free to click on the tab below to have a look. It's been a cold and grey Winter and thus I've turned into a hibernating bear with some extra time on my hands to watch some great shows.

HAIR CUT AND COLOUR

Had my hair cut and a new colour on Saturday 09/08/2014. It's always exciting and scary at the same time as it's the same wonderful hairdresser, but slightly different each time. This time I LOVE IT! Instead of foils which I've been doing for years we decided on an overall tint with a few foils at the front. So far it's working well and I'm happy. I love it shorter and shorter each time. I can't stand it on my face or in the nape of my neck. I think that's why I had it long for so many years even though I still tied it up and off my face. My theory is also that I did it as women are still able to have kids prior to menopause hence it's used as part of our tools to possibly attract a mate. Not to mention that men generally love long hair on woman, it's that "porn" look I call it!

A very flattering but fun shot with my new colour going in and Belinda a sweet & fun apprentice at the salon.

Post shot prior to styling myself at home with my own product and method. Feeling freezing on my way home at 4.30pm..driving as usual..loving it and the hairdo...especially after I got home! Always a great sign :)

My first and only pat for the day..........what a face huh...he was about 6 months old and just a gem. I didn't catch his name as I was running late for the salon. Adorable :)

I've seen a few MOVIES this month as I've caught up with special friends and had some time to myself to see some great and not so great movies. Here is some information about my day (if applicable) and links to the Movie Review Page on the website, as well as the link to the official movie trailer on YouTube.

CALVARY.

I went to see Calvary with my movie buddy Jenny. I used to manage her in one of my teams at the bank and we've been great friends ever since. It's really grown into a fabulous friendship and we often see a movie on Monday's.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

ONE OF MY FUNNY STORIES.

I don't finish dressing and getting off the bed until 10am every morning although I'm up at 7.30am. Once dressed it takes me 10 minutes to get into my wheelchair, 10 minutes to make my bed and tidy my room, and another 10 minutes to do my hair and splash some makeup on. A further 15-20 minutes to layer up my clothing for driving at 9kms per hour down to the train station to catch the train, 15-20 minutes by train to the city and 15 minutes to the casino to finally get to the movie cinema. That's usually about 1 hour and 40 minutes or so.

The movie was at 11am at Crown in the CBD of Melbourne and I was meeting 2 wonderful friends I haven't seen for a few months. So I rushed my carer who can sometimes be a little late and slower in dressing me as we chat so much. My session with my carer is 45 minutes, from 9am to 9.45am. I told her that I was in a hurry and needed to be ready on time as my train was at 10.15 which meant I had to leave home at 10am. I somehow managed to do all of the above and get to the cinema and my friends by 10.55am!

When I arrived at Crown we said a quick hi and hugged each other and purchased our tickets in 2D. The ticket box office is downstairs and the cinemas the next level up, with my only access  via a tiny lift which the manager usually has to unlock for me. We tried this, stood there for 5 minutes or so, then went backwards and forwards to the girl at the ticket office telling her it still wasn't working. This went on for 20 minutes at which time we'd missed the beginning of the movie. Finally the manager came down, a lovely young bubbly girl who apologised profusely and offered us a refund and free tickets to upgrade from 2D to 3D for the next session (plus glasses) if we were interested. We quickly discussed it, agreed we would and so it was organized. We then had lunch, a chat and went to see the movie.

My review.................WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At one stage I had my chair reclined in what I call my "gold class" position and heard this "nnnngggggg" noise, opened my eyes and thought "what was that"? Then quickly realized it was me - I'd fallen asleep and was snoring! I only sleep if movies are boring or if I've taken loads of medication and am tired.

Post the movie we said our goodbye's, hugged and I caught the train home. I was tired as it was a long day for me.

THE HUNDRED FOOT JOURNEY

I went with my movie friend Jenny to our Rivoli Monday session and loved every minute of it. What a wonderful film of the coming together of 2 very different cultures and brilliantly written characters, not to mention actors. Highly recommend it, it'll warm your heart and melt your soul.

THE 100 YEAR OLD MAN WHO CLIMBED OUT OF THE WINDOW AND DISAPPEARED.

ONE OF MY FUNNY STORIES.

I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch and I got the date mixed up. I didn't find out until she called and I was getting on the train to Camberwell in the pouring rain. However the day turned out to be magnificent and I just went with the flow. I decided that as it was raining, I was cold and it was cold that I'd get a hot coffee and pop into the Rivoli and see the next movie that was showing providing I hadn't seen it already. Go with the flow!

When I went to pay the girl said I had 4 FREE MOVIE TICKETS? I quickly realized that as I have a Village movie club card, that when we'd got a refund for the Galaxy movies, the manager had made a mistake and when she'd somehow put 3 free tickets on there as part of the refund (I had 1 free ticket already owing to me). WOW.....Happy Gift to me! This kind of thing happens to me all the time, no complaints, just a big thanks. That saves me $16.50 concession price for a movie x 3 = $49.50. Plus each time I swipe my Village movie card when I see those movies, I will add to their superb marketing scheme (after 5 movies you receive a $9.00 ticket and after the 10th movie a free ticket. No cost for the card), I'll be ready for another free ticket.

It happened to be the 100 year old man.... What a magnificent surprise this movie turned out to be! A totally under marketed hidden gem.

TAX TIME.

What can I say other than OUCH!. Dick & Head really don't make it easy for the disabled. I spent $13,583.00 on medical, equipment and more and all I could claim was tax I paid from the drawdowns from my Super fund  which is really the main income I have each month to live off. Mmmmm.......

HOOKWORM TIME AGAIN

For some of you you'll be totally aware of my Hookworm story and treatment, my "special and treasured friends". I get a dose of them about every 6-8 months and a week ago they arrived from the UK after I ordered them through my guys I've used for 3.5 years now. It's so easy now and I think an absolute lifesaver for me. So on they went on the 21st of August 2014, a dose of 35 or so. I had the usual pin pricks within 15 minutes with the larvae making their way into my blood stream through my skin and eventually the small intestine to work their magic. The area came up really red and itchy in it's usual art form and has been like that ever since. As usual I've spent much time looking at the ever changing site through my magnifying glass, studying it and photographing it as I'm so fascinated even after 3.5 years. This time I became very breathless (a new symptom) and very, very tired within 2 days for 2-3 days. I thought I was getting a cold but realized it was the period when they go from the lungs into the oesophagus and work their way to the small intestine. It disappeared overnight after Monday night! And the bonus is that the site (after much true Lavender oil applied to it as very good for itching and healing skin) is healing and going much faster than previous times.
