CHANGES MADE TO SIDEWALK

I often drive in my wheelchair to and from home to Camberwell to see a movie, do shopping and/or to catch up with friends. I drive along Camberwell Rd and there the gradient of the sidewalk, accessing it from the road was so dangerously steep that I could never drive up or down it. The only alternative was to then drive along with the traffic on the side of the road to the pedestrian crossing and then drive onto the footpath at that spot. You'll be able to see it in the 4th photos below. It was dangerous!

I wrote to the council and was advised that when the new annual year began, 1st July 2015, the footpath would possibly be changed. I went passed recently and noticed that they had begun work on it and now it is completed! It was a very satisfying feeling to know that if you ask and put a good case forward to any business, there is always a chance of change. It's only if you don't say anything that change can not happen. Below are the photos :) 

Before any changes made. It's difficult to capture the gradient however you can see how old and cracked it is.

The work begins on it. I noticed it one morning on my way to the hairdresser.

IT'S COMPLETED and I've driven across it. There are no gradients as it is just flat and fabulous!

If you look just passed the stop sign on the left a traffic light. I used to drive across this side street then onto Camberwell Rd, along the side of it next to the pavement and up onto the footpath at the lights. The same on the way home. Now it's fabulous!
