This is just a short blog to share some photos of an artichoke flower. Mum does these incredible flower arrangements, and usually brings home fresh and often unusual flowers once a week. Last week she brought home an artichoke flower! It's extraordinary to look at and of course I couldn't stop photographing it. It's called a globe artichoke and is cultivated as a food. The portion we eat from the plant is that of the flower buds before it flowers. It's inedible once it has flowered. It's easy to see the flower, the colour is stunning! Plus I was challenged to some black and white photos of anything but people and flowers on Facebook by my cousin. Here are a few of the shots. Enjoy :)
