ORCHIDS AND CABBAGES

I received a stunning orchid as a birthday gift from a friend, and it sits on my desk. I was sitting here on Saturday, the sun streaming in through the window, and I noticed all the incredible colours of the plant. I thought it'd be great to photograph it, as well as use some of the manual functions on my camera. I'm teaching (trying) myself, with not much success. I'm more creative, and don't have the patience to sit and learn how it all works.
