MY TRIP TO THE ZOO 27.04.16

I've been in a shocking rut for some time now and have been working my way through it. I decided to get out on a wonderful Autumn day and head to the zoo. I love photography and bought a new wide angle zoom lens for my SLR camera. Not only am I super happy with the photographs (and there are many), I also had an amazing day!

Sadly a few of the side effects of having and living with an acute disease such as NMO is solitude. First came the disease, then all the attacks, hospital visits, months in rehabilitation & recovery time at home, all whilst I was working. Then the paralysis and all the other challenges with nerve pain, altered sensations on my skin & muddled perceptions of all kinds of things between the brain, the body and back to the brain because of the permanent nerve damage on the spinal cord. Followed by months and months of getting more ill, in and out of hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, home and all over again for a couple of years. Then the realisation and coming to terms with the fact that I had to resign from working and would never be able to work again. Something that I grew up with all around me and where that's what you did, or at least aspired to do.

I then couldn't live by myself anymore once a paraplegic with all the NMO complications so renovated my Mum's garage into a great unit to live in. I also needed to depend on my Mum to a large degree whilst hanging on for dear life on a daily basis to my independence. I rented my house out that I had built which was perfect, and had I been well I would have had a great life there. I finally sold the house after 3 years as it was less worry and I didn't need to start maintaining it with funds I didn't have anymore. Finally friendships and people which disappear for many reasons. They either can't handle it, or work during the week and then have family and home commitments on weekends. People who just get lazy and are followers rather than organisers. People who are just self centred and don't have similar values of friendship such as you do, as well as friendships change or just never existed as perhaps you thought. All resulting in a very solitary life where you then spend time with yourself a lot. I live very well being alone as I'm never lonely.

So, I do much on my own, and love each and every time I go out as I meet some amazing people from all countries and walks of life of different ages etc. Not to mention I don't have any trouble talking to people ;). The zoo is always great as I am an avid animal lover and have been reading all kinds of stories about shocking wildlife poaching and animal cruelty that I am more passionate than ever to do something about it. Not to mention the twinkle that these gorgeous creatures put in your heart and soul when you see them. Having said all of that, here are some of my favourite photos (I took over 900)! If you'd like to see some more, hop on Flickr and follow me there. Enjoy!

Ha ha ha...me being silly. This is an eye mask I bought from when I went to the Warhol & Ai WeiWei exhibition. This is a face that WeiWei posed for and I love it..it's so cheeky and mad. I now take selfies all over the place as a joke with this mask on.
