It's about time I wrote this!

PLEASE CLICK ON THE TITLE "MOVIE REVIEWS" ABOVE TO TAKE YOU TO MY BLOG AS YOU WON'T SEE ANY OF THE YOUTUBE TRAILERS ON YOUR EMAIL YOU RECEIVE.

It's been a weird year for movies 2014. There were the odd good ones scattered throughout the year like BOYHOOD and WHIPLASH, as well as my favourite THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. I know some hated it however it appealed to my crazy sense of humour and I LOVED the unusual cinematography, it was very surreal.

Now that it's movie awards season with the big Oscars all the great movies have been released. I've been watching a few and here's what I think re the movies.

AMERICAN SNIPER

I knew nothing about the storyline as that's how I prefer to see movies. I didn't realize it was based on a true story and the story of Chris Kyle. I have to say that I was on the edge of my seat for so many reasons. The acting by Bradley Cooper was so brilliant that I really felt as though I was him and could feel everything he went through while in Iraq. I thought about what it must be like to take human lives as a job and not that of a hit man, one in the marines serving his country which he was so adamant on doing. The ending was such a shock and so sad. It made me ask all kinds of questions about the value of life, irony and how these humans who do these extraordinary jobs are just left with permanent emotional scarring from these ordeals without such little support. That both sides in war do the same thing to each other re take lives and suffer the same consequences with similar beliefs and yet are so different. The questions are still there and I don't have enough time to rattle on with you all the thoughts that this movie provoked within me.
Bradley Cooper was unrecognizable and absolutely brilliant. He is really emerging to be a chameleon within his profession and an extraordinary actor. It's also nice to see that Sienna Miller has matured as well and was also great.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT and give it 4.5 stars.

INTO THE WOODS

It's a musical folks so don't see it if that's not your thing. I watched it at home which was great. When I started it looked great and I was doing things around the unit which enabled me to do both at the same time. It's 2 hours long with a huge A list cast in it with great singing voices. Emily Blunt has a fabulous voice.

The storyline is well done but after an hour I'd had enough. The songs all sounded the same and all I could think was get out of the stupid woods, stop singing and Meryl's nominated for another Oscar based on that performance compared to so many other marvelous female actresses in movies at the moment? Yawn, yawn...great it's over. 3 STARS,

TAKEN 3

Liam Neeson is great as usual but what story?? Don't bother.

PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR (Animated)

I Love animation but it has to be a great film and this was a wonderful surprise. The 4 characters were gorgeous and very funny. The jokes were great and I loved the film. Any adult or child would love this movie.
I give it 3.5 stars.

BIG HERO 6 (Animated)

The best animated film I've seen in ages. Another film for adults and kids and so well done. Animation has come such a long way since I used to watch it as a little girl. I've always loved animation as it's so cleverly done in terms of the technique and the detail  that goes into each frame to create a 1.5 - 2 hour film.

This movie has a marvelous story and funny jokes, the usual formula that's used in the large company big budget movies,
I highly recommend this and give it 4 stars.

MR TURNER

OMG I wanted to slash my wrists it was so boring. Mum wanted to see it so I suggested we go along one afternoon during her holidays. I can't tell you how many times I fell asleep but the funniest part of the afternoon was Mum shaking me at least 4 times (the only way to wake me as I fall into such a deep sleep so quickly) and me asking if I was snoring ;). What amazed me was that each time I woke up I was able to pick up on the story line as it was so drawn out on a small portion of his life that I missed nothing!
